Pioneers in the telephony of the future, we continue to grow and improve results

2014 saw a significant improvement in our results: our turnover increased to 21 million euros in 2014, a 25% increase compared with the previous year, increasing the bottom line by 33%. 98% of our revenue is now generated from our service as a mobile operator, which has seen further growth, this time by 72% compared with 2013. We have reinvented Tuenti as a product, as a company and as a business model (our turnover is currently over double that of 2010 when our revenue originated exclusively from advertising). Tuenti has evolved dramatically and is no longer a social network. A 180º turn in a sector like technology and internet offer, where we are committed to offering our customers the future of mobile telephony right now.

Tuenti was created as a website in 2006 and, for the last three years, we have placed the mobile at the center of our twofold strategy: transforming Tuenti into a mobile app and developing our own service as an integrated telephony operator, officially launched in 2012 and now with over 240,000 active customers in Spain. Tuenti was in fact Spain’s first digital mobile operator, the first to center its commercial offering around data and the first to include an integrated management and communication app. We were pioneers, launching free app-to-app VoIP calls in 2013. We were also the first not to calculate our customers’ use of the app (Zerolímites) meaning that they don’t use up data or credit. In recent months, we have also been trailblazers by launching our service outside Spain, with a global model (already operational in Mexico, Peru and Argentina) focused on technological innovation, especially designed for those who heavily use mobile Internet.

Our more than 100 engineers are focused on developing high added-value products that make Tuenti the most ground-breaking operator, as it is the first to offer cross-platform cloud-based telephony services, with unique benefits and features, accelerating progress towards the mobile telephony of the future, and, since 2014, the first operator on the market to offer VOZDIGITAL calls: a further step forward when it comes to VoIP calls, which can be made via the Tuenti app to any landline or mobile number in Spain long before other global companies can offer this service. We have inaugurated our new online store and improved the integration with Tuenti Móvil in our app

Starting today, the new Tuenti Móvil online store is fully operational. It has a new design that highlights the differentiating value of our service proposal through innovation and technology with our integrated communication app and value-added services. Another novelty is a new mobile version that is fully compatible with any device. As of today, it will be progressively operational for all users. The new store is available at www.tuentimovil.com and it offers navigation that is even simpler and more intuitive.

Today we are also launching an updated version of our Android app (4.4) that is debuting in a new category--communication in Google Play--as a result of our emphasis as a mobile communication tool.

The new version is centered on the integration with Tuenti Móvil, which has become the focus of the experience between our mobile operator customers. Tuenti Móvil customers will now have faster access to account management as well as a convenient connection to services via the app, such as requesting a SIM directly through it without having to visit our website.

When the new app is installed, Tuenti Móvil customers will be provided with a navigation tutorial that explains all the new features and benefits that are available, such as integrated management of the line (consumption control, inbox, history, etc.), free integrated voice calls, and the Zerolímites service that does not consume data allowances or credit when using our app.

This new version of the Android app also includes a free social communication tool that is available to any user, the possibility of using animated GIFs in moments or in friends' walls, as well as improvements to the application's performance and overall operation. These new features are combined with the improvements launched a few weeks ago in the free voice calling service.

We recommend that all users visit the new tuentimovil.com site and update the app, especially customers of our mobile virtual network operator, and we invite anyone who is not yet familiar with the benefits of our tool to try it and give us their feedback so we may continue building the best digital mobile communication service on the market.

New VoIP calling service for our iPhone app

Today we are presenting major innovations to our native iOS app: for the first time ever, version 4.3 will include the free voice calling service. This means that users can now make or receive high quality multi-platform calls for free using the Tuenti iPhone application, which is also compatible with Android, Chrome and Opera.

Available for iPhone terminals (version 3GS and newer, equipped with the iOS6 operating system or higher), users will find the option for making free calls in the top right corner of the chat screen when chatting with friends or contacts. The call history with each person is displayed in a fully integrated manner in the conversation because it forms part of the conversation and everything is stored in the cloud.

Tuenti Móvil customers can make these calls using the Tuenti app without consuming cell phone data allowances thanks to Zerolímites, a completely innovative and exclusive concept in the cell phone carrier market.

Lastly, this version also includes improvements to the chat's usage experience thanks to visual innovations. It's time to update the app and try out the VoIP calling service with friends and contacts! ;)

Important advances in our pioneer voice over IP calling service

We were pioneers in adding the possibility of making voice over IP (VoIP) calls to our new Android cell phone application in June 2013 that allowed users to make free calls without consuming voice minutes. Since then, we have been developing the beta phase of this service, and today we are launching a new update in the latest version of our Android application that includes significant improvements to the app's voice calling service. Version 4.3 contains quality improvements, especially in terms of phone call audio and regardless of whether calls are made via a WiFi or 3G network, and calls made to friends and contacts using the Tuenti app are now more stable.

It is important to point out that Tuenti Móvil customers can make these calls using the Tuenti app without consuming cell phone data allowances thanks to Zerolímites, which is completely innovative and exclusive in the cell phone operator market. In addition to making free voice calls using this improved functionality, customers may also navigate the Tuenti website and app for free without using data allowances, even if they have already been consumed.

Another important feature is that as of today, the VoIP service is compatible for the first time with the web (using the Chrome browser), which means that users can make or receive free voice calls on their computer via the Tuenti application.

These improvements require users to update to the latest version of our Android app in order to benefit from its new multiplatform advantages.

Go ahead and update to test the new voice calling service using Android or the Internet, and talk without using minutes. It will soon be available for iPhone as well.

We’re Including Voice over IP Calls and Tuenti Móvil Management in our Android App

Our app keeps getting better, and now we’ve integrated the Voice Calls (VoIP) functionality as well as mobile account management for our Tuenti Móvil clients in the latest versions of the Tuenti app for Android.

Now, users that have version 2.6 or higher of the new Tuenti app for Android can make voice calls over IP to their friends and contacts without spending a cent of their phone credit through a secure Internet connection (standard 3G or Wi-Fi). Additionally, users that are Tuenti Móvil clients will be able to make calls with Zerolímites, even if they don’t have any phone credit or data, totally free and with no limits!  

We’ve also integrated a feature for Tuenti Móvil customers that will allow them to manage their mobile account directly from within the Tuenti app.  They’ll be able to view their call history, top up, see their data usage, etc. conveniently from within the Android app. This functionality is available from tu.tuenti.com through their native web browser and is free for all Tuenti and Tuenti Móvil users, no matter what type of smartphone they have. The account management functionality will eventually be available for the rest of the apps.
